Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to visit.
This album has certainly been a long time in the making.
I have been writing songs with a similar subject matter since I was 18 years old however, although I liked them, I never truly felt that I was doing justice to the stories I was telling.
After experimenting with my sound (only after the encouragement of someone very inspirational in my life), I found myself beginning to write the bare bones of what would become 'Petrichor'.
I took inspiration from anywhere I could find it, books, art, film, music etc, but the biggest source of creativity came from folk music and the recurrent themes and imagery I recognised in it.
I've always loved nature; the colours of the sky as the sun rises and sets, the small hidden rivers and streams you stumble across on an Autumn day walk, a heavy thunderstorm as you sit inside a warm house - so I decided that these would be the catalyst to the songs I would write.
It was very hard work but I am proud to say that I wrote nearly everything on this record by myself and managed to include some Harmonium and Autoharp in there too.
The story behind it all is much like it has always been - the story of a passionate first love and all the ups and downs of that. I'll let you decipher the rest when you listen to the album.
Olli was fundamental in the creation of the organic, folky, but rather experimental, sound of the album and I'm truly thankful for that. He took my simple acoustic songs and helped me mould a beautiful world for you all to immerse yourselves in.
Thank you for your love and support through all of this and I very much hope that you enjoy my album.
All my love,
